Bandai RD Unicorn - Review

Collecting was put to a stall to pave way... well, for more practical stuff. Nothing in particular really. But sometimes the itch gets the better of my thriftiness (oh and fever blurred my decision making). Not that I'm regretting the purchase. I actually had a sense of satisfaction from getting the vanilla Unicorn to have it beside my Uni-Destroy and Nanju.

This + Shield are its accessories. Fair enough but sadly you cannot fit the Destroy mode weapons (2nd release seem to be capable)

Seeing other reviews I felt the Unicorn has a strong attitude with its design despite it being plain and white

As usual details are superb. Ahh I love the whites

Height comparison. A little bit off scale. I'm guessing the 2nd release also fixed the inconsistency.

Action!

Pew

Saber GET

Badass

Attack on Seed

Director's cut.................

My newtype senses are tingling.....!!!

*Red flash*

Dear Unicorn sir please state La+ location... Or else...

I guess asking you nicely is pointless?
....Oh shi....

UWAAAAHHHH!!!!

Chikusyo! (PEEEW)

A master once said: Powerful beam rifle yes, but hitting me you shall not!

In that case...

HENSHIN

It's a..... GUNDAM?! Now we're talking

Show me your true power

Come and get it

Pros:
Simple yet striking design

Cons:
Being one of the older Robot Damashii's articulation is surprisingly "limited". It has a lot of it but not on par with the new ones. (Destroy mode despite its design is a lot more articulate than the vanilla Unicorn).
Solidity is a little bit down but not entirely an annoyance while fiddling like the RG's. The front and side skirts tend to pop off from time to time.

Summing up, simplicity is its best asset. Got the figure on sale so no regrets as the 2nd release (+Full Armor) is more than twice the price. Good figure overall and the proportions are, as always, great with this Robot Damashii.

QY SD Shining Gundam - Mini WIP, Assembly Cure and Review

It has been a while since the last time I blogged. Reality bites and I have to focus on the "more important things in life." Work, girlfriend, and of course going outdoors - a much needed "distraction" to regain my appetite for GunPla. In all honesty my interest has gone downhill and the promised TT Hongli MG Sinanju is nothing more of a plan than a work-to-be-done. There will always be the GunPla itch so I picked this teeneeweenee SD that caught my eye. Welcome to the club, Shining Gundam!! To start off, the box. Runners - 5 in total along with the polycaps Issue 01: See the yellow fin attached to the head? Don't force to plug it in. You'll only damage the plastic. Shave off the little opening to fully accommodate the fin. Repeat it on the other side. Issue 02: The usual suspect in QY kits. What I did was shave the male connectors with my hobby knife. Head done! Notice I used the foil stickers. It's not that I was too lazy to paint the eyes, b...

Bandai SD Zeta Karaba Assault - WIP 01

Coming from a competition really fired my GN Drives up! I am now onto my 1st WIP of 2012, SD Zeta! This 2-pack kit was actually bought before I even knew about the GFP competition. But G-SHOT and the 1/144 Challenge came along and the fun and excitement was too hard to pass up! I initially thought of doing Zeta in its accurate colors. Watching Gundam AGE really blew me and I fell in love with white MS's particularly seeing how the G-EXES pawns the UE. Right then and there I decided to try something different, something that I've never tried before (well, sort of). BTW, if you've never encountered the Zeta Karaba Assault it sorta looks like this ~ It is a limited edition color scheme of the MG Zeta V2. The Karaba Assault was piloted by the White Unicorn AKA Amuro Ray. (Photo above is NOT mine. Thank you GundamPH for the reference. Visit his site too. There are a lot of GunPla, mech, and other anime-related cool stuff there to see) Upon straight building this dude, I ...

Bandai RG RX-78-2 Gundam - Review

The much anticipated (and delayed) review of my RG RX-78-2! I broke the chest piece when I was applying some finishing touches on the kit. Crap it was a nightmare! When the piece snapped into two I couldn't hold back and yelled NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That serves another lesson for me. Never EVER force yourself into working with half-assed consciousness. Weeks came by and I was able to get in touch with someone who has a spare RG RX-78-2 kit. Viola, my kit is RESTORED! Onto the review, here's the RX-78-2 in its Real Grade Excitement Embodied glory Ah, the Real Grade. Stressing color separation. The attention given to the details of RG kits is just plain awesome! The different shades of white, red, and blue is fantastic. Showing off some articulation here, kneeling poses are a bit better than the RG Char Zaku. Goes to show that top notch engineering with a mini-skirt design Gundam works! That's Amuro by the way :p Will paint...
