TT Hongli MG 1/100 Exia Ignition Mode - Review

Assembling bootleg kits can be a pain at times but this MG Exia Ignition Mode was a breeze. I was surprised from the fact that 90% went well and the other 10% were minor fixes - from shaving male connectors to gluing parts. I really enjoyed assembling my first Master Grade (I was hoping it was Bandai, my wallet was not cooperating as expected lol). Action! G...Gu...Gundaaaaaam!!!!!!!!!!! GUUUUNDAAAAMU!!! Ore wa........... Ore Wa Gundam-da!! Exia exterminating target............... Graham: Ike, Setsuna! Live and unlock the future! More swords Setsuna? Target exterminated! Joining the bunch :D Pros: Assembling is pretty easy for a bootleg Build is sturdy It came with LEDs! Cons: Joints are too stiff (for my liking, anyways, it made the kit solid though) Swords at his wait does not fit the peg in the hand Exia Repair parts does need half of the non-Repair head. (didn't bother with the transformation) The Exia Ignition Mode is a must have! I'm really g...

TT Hongli MG 1/100 Exia Ignition Mode - Assembly Cure

These are the consolidated images of my fixes for the TT Hongli MG Exia Ignition Mode. This will be categorized as Step By Step GunPla found in my pages (tabs above) so if you're looking for fixes on bootleg kits, better check that page out. :) With the Exia I.M.'s head, shave of this peg to be able to snap it fully. What I did here is glue Exia I.M.'s bunny ears. It keeps on falling off so glue the damn ears! You can use a toothpick (or the tip of a ball pen in my case) to control the ooze of your glue. Apply thinly. Shave off the male connector of the white part shown with a hobby knife or sand it with a low (rough) grit to thin it. It won't fit as smooth so.. Under the body, you'll need to shave the male connector. As you can see it does NOT fit very well. :( Shaving or cutting the entire connector and then gluing does the trick. Cut the male connector entirely. Apply glue on the seams thinly. Glue the white part at the back. It doesn't hav...

TT Hongli MG 1/100 Exia Ignition Mode - WIP 04

Without further adieu, I present Exia in his full glory!!! All that's left are minor detailing, assembling his armaments and Exia Repair (REAPER) parts. Here's what you need for detailing the panel lines. An enamel thinner and enamel paint. Mix a tiny amount of paint to the thinner in a dish to make its texture "soapy" and thin. Gently damp the brush into the panel lines and let the paint stream. It should look something like this (but hopefully yours won't be as messy as mine, make sure the brush is not soaked too much in the mixture). Let the paint sit for about 5-8 minutes. Get a q-tip and wet one side with a thinner. Wipe the excess paint lightly and make sure you won't press too hard so you wouldn't erase the panel lines. With patience and perseverance, panel lines really gives a nice glow and breathes life into the kits.   ..And with panel lines you are entitled to bully kids on the block >:D Zoro: Booohooooo ToT Before getting ca...

TT Hongli MG 1/100 Exia Ignition Mode - WIP 03

Progress 3 of my Exia Ignition Mode, I'm 90% done!!! I haven't had any issues with the waist and leg assembly so glue any part that easily pops off. Construction is a breeze! No problems here. Normally those purple grape candies there are red. Decided to go with that to give Exia a dark look. RAWR! >:D This is really not an issue BUT please cram this piece (of crap) with care! I got stretched plastic on my right leg. I didn't dare to shave this part off. It serves as a "stopper" when the legs bend. I was afraid because I might shave it too thin and make it loose. Uhh.... I forgot. I DID shave some male connectors. Anyway this is pretty easy to do and won't take too long. Exia has some pretty slim sexy legs Never encountered any issue with the front skirts except the white armore keeps popping off. A simple thin application of glue would do the fix. ..........I had Gunplasms when............... ~Ore Wa Gundam!!! A stress reliever and money'...

TT Hongli MG 1/100 Exia Ignition Mode - WIP 02

Well, today is my second day in an attempt to finish the Exia I.M.. Moving on from the upper body and head on my WIP 01 , comes the arms and lower body. I believe I was jinx because of praising this kit's slight imperfections before. Well, none of it are outstanding, it was just annoying of how you'll snap the pieces together on tilted positions. Under the body, you'll need to shave the male connector. As you can see it does NOT fit very well. :( Shaving or cutting the entire connector and then gluing does the trick. I'm really loving the side vents of Exia hahaha! The gold Gundam Marker really looks awesome! This is the part that gets a little bit tricky (and annoying!). See the holograph part there? You need to assemble and jam it into the inner frame of the shoulders. Cut the male connector entirely. Apply glue on the seams thinly. Forgot to mention, glue the white part at the back. It doesn't have something to hold on to. Glue the armor piece on the s...
